This is the story of the founder of the Starecta method, the Italian Moreno Conte. At one time, his story became a real revelation for me and clarified a lot in my own state, adding the missing puzzle pieces to the big picture. What follows is the guy’s story without my comments.
I was dying and no one expert could help me. Therefore, I had to find a way myself that helped me straighten my spine, eliminating all the accompanying symptoms. I was diagnosed with scoliosis, progressive lumbar and cervical lordosis, thoracic kyphosis, gastric ulcer and hypochondria. I also suffered from panic attacks, anxiety and depression. My main symptoms were: chronic muscle and back pain, neck pain, fear of death, palpitations, digestive problems, food allergies, food aversion, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, changes in body temperature, breathing problems, snoring, chronic fatigue and insomnia.

Since childhood, I have had many health problems due to the fact that my head was lowered forward. I had a crooked back, raised shoulders and a very pronounced lumbar lordosis. Despite all these problems, I was constantly involved in sports, I loved playing football, swimming, canoeing, judo, capoeira and many other wonderful sports until the age of twenty. Then I had to completely stop playing sports, as I was forced to lie in bed due to the pain caused by my completely incorrect posture.
My muscles were displaced so that I began to compress the internal organs, compressing the lungs, heart, stomach and intestines. I will never forget the first panic attack I had when I was eighteen. From then until twenty-four my life went on a downward spiral, and I became practically disabled. My body continued to deteriorate, and no one understood what was happening. My family considered me a hypochondriac, so I visited psychologists and psychiatrists.

I have visited many specialists, such as orthopedists, chiropractors, osteopaths, who performed many unnecessary manipulations. Moreover, they all told me that I had to force myself to stand up straight. I have been repeating this phrase to myself since childhood. I tried my best, but in the end I habitually “fell” into my normal state. For some reason, I was weary of keeping my head straight.
I looked in the mirror and studied my nasty curvature. I wanted to see my back harmonious. But with all my efforts expended, I could not reach the goal. At twenty-three to twenty-four, my symptoms were already so debilitating that I felt like I was melting inexorably like a candle. I was constantly vomiting because my stomach was in a vice and I was having difficulty breathing. My diaphragm was completely blocked.

This was the time when I fanatically began my research, which brought me the first insight into the possible causes of my condition, which I described in my book “How I Straightened My Spine”. The cause was my wrong bite, which did not provide sufficient support to the skull from the front and, due to the head lowered forward, had a curving effect on the entire spine.
It was necessary to provide adequate support to the skull so that, while remaining upright, it helped to straighten the spine, ensuring the normal physiological curvature of its curves. To return the skull to an upright position, I needed to create a lever effect. My jaw served as a fulcrum, and my Rectifier ™ Splint was a fulcrum. In this position, the skull can return to an upright position. Eureka!

Exhausted to the limit, without a drop of fat and muscle mass, completely destroyed and twisted, I finally began to straighten up, just sitting on a chair. It was amazing! It’s an incredible feeling that I was straightening without even making an effort. I was finally able to clearly understand that our posture is regulated by the biomechanism in our mouth – simply the height of the teeth. It all depends on how our skull is located on the jaw. Symmetrical or asymmetrical forces arising at the moment of swallowing are responsible for the harmony and beauty of our face and correct posture.
It was a truly incredible feeling when I made my dream come true – to straighten my spine. Month after month, I saw the curves of my spine regain their normal physiological curvature. In this process, some muscles, shortened by years of compensation, were stretched, while others, overstretched, took their natural shape. So I made my dream come true – to have a straight back! Moreno Conte.
